What you will do?

You will have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Review all relevant accounting records of Gemcap and its funds under management are properly maintained and readily available including assisting the coordination and management of annual and semi-annual financial statements

  • Review all tax reporting (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax etc) to ensure they are up to date and accurately maintained

  • Prepare the monthly management accounts

  • Prepare and assist in the monitoring of the capital adequacy returns of the company on a monthly basis

  • Assist in the preparation the regulatory reports of the Company in respect of the Funds

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly financial report to the Board

  • Review and record invoices to determine their classification in the accounts

  • Review and process the cash reconciliation for all accounts held by the company on a weekly basis

  • Manage and process staff related payments and benefits

  • Manage internal reporting on financial aspect of the business

  • Manage day to day fund manager and business partners operational, finance and tax queries

  • Assist with Fund Migrations, IM Change, Fund Launches, vendor review and due dilligence etc

  • Assist in the oversight of the costs of Irish entities, specifically the review of invoices for approval

  • Regular reporting, and communication to reporting manager

  • Liaising with managers to gather data and reports for the annual accounts

  • Assist in the oversight of budgets and forecasts for the Funds.  This would entail:-

    • Liaising with auditors as appropriate.

    • Working with the Board and other interested parties to establish the annual budgets and future business forecasts.

    • Review of annual and interim Fund Financial Statements

  • Assist in the maintenance the Company's accounting policies and procedures;

  • Review of existing policies and procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose and address gaps where policies do not currently exist;

  • Complying with appropriate internal controls within area of responsibility.

  • Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements.  Complete any mandatory training in line with legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements

  • Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role. Complete all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence

  • Comply with all applicable conduct rules as prescribed by the Regulator

What you will bring?

  • Preferably someone with experience in the fund industry and able to demonstrate understanding in this area

  • Qualifications in business/accounting/finance (diploma, degree or professional certification)

  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills

  • Willing to learn and adapt

  • Excellent maths and computational ability

  • Effective communication skills

  • People skills – we are a relatively small team and it’s important that the chosen candidate has an ability to get on with people, to challenge constructively and to work in teams to solve issues and find solutions

  • Strong report writing skills, attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive and innovative approach;

  • Experience in the design, drafting, development and maintenance of distribution related policies and procedures

  • Ability to work in an international, flexible, team-based multicultural environment;

  • Superb organisational skills with an ability to handle a busy workload and to prioritise work

  • Ability to respond well to pressure

  • IT competent in all Office 365 products
