Retina International is seeking a full-time experienced Head of Research, Policy and Programs to work with its international team.

Retina International was established in 1978 by people living with forms of retinal degeneration causing sight loss, to foster and support retinal research. Now a global umbrella group and a registered Irish charity, Retina International represents its global membership of charities and foundations, on all continents. The organisation provides targeted education courses and capacity building platforms to its patient led membership and its research and clinical community, enabling them to develop robust advocacy campaigns, participate in relevant discussion forums and work with all stakeholders to develop a consensus driven approach to global policy action for the retina community at large. www.retina-international.org.


Retina International is seeking an experienced professional to develop and manage the organisation’s research and policy programmes in the area of impact, burden of disease, real world evidence generation and patient preference.


Duties:

  • Manage the research and policy team of three staff at RI.

  • Oversee the development, budget, publication and utilization of all RI research and policy programs.

  • Engage with RI membership and relevant stakeholders in the development of programs and their implementation.

  • Manage the Research and Innovation Subcommittee of RI.

  • Managing external contracts for RI

  • Primary point person to redesign strategy of Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of RI.

  • Represent RI in global forums and supra-national institutions.

  • Present the work of RI at relevant conferences and events.

  • Represent RI at relevant organising committees for Retina International World Congresses.

  • Attend meetings of the Board of Directors as requested.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to PhD. level in STEM subject.

  • Five years’ experience working in management roles in life sciences.
