About the role

As a result of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced, well-motivated HR Manager  to join our growing, ambitious team. In this new role, you will have the opportunity to have a direct impact in driving the business forward during this exciting stage. You will support our senior management team and employees with all day-to-day, operational HR requirements.

What you will do?

  • Develop and implement a wide range of HR strategies, policies and initiatives to build a high-performance culture across the Company and that will promote optimum management and employee satisfaction.

  • Develop & implement effective strategies to attract, recruit and induct high calibre talent in a timely manner to meet the business growth needs.  This includes leading and overseeing the development of a strong employer brand in the marketplace to position the Midland Steel as an Employer of Choice.

  • Partner closely with the management team, being their main point of contact for all HR related matters  and provide support to all employees on day-to-day HR related topics and resolve any issues that may arise.

  • Coach and support managers regarding HR issues/challenges and facilitate effective and proactive decision-making to ensure solutions are realistic, fair, timely, consistent and effective.

  • Learning & Development – work closely with managers to develop training plans and lead initiatives to drive employee engagement and professional development.

  • Pro-actively lead all aspects of employee engagement and communications including ensuring effective employee relations.

  • Contribute strongly to the development of innovative approaches to employee retention and engagement and be proactive and hands on in creating a great working environment and company culture.

  • Drive and manage the provision of employee data and management information in the format and quality that will support business decision making.

What you will bring?

  • Minimum 5+ years HR experience in a busy operational HR generalist role

  • Flexible, can-do attitude, combined with a high degree of resilience and a maturity of judgement

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written English) and presentation skills and ability to build relationships and built trust with a variety of stakeholders

  • A team player with the ability to work independently

  • Ability to be discreet and confidential at all times.

  • Match vision with execution: you have experience thinking big but execute with strong attention to detail

  • Knowledgeable about and understand compliance, diversity and inclusion principles.

  • Strong working knowledge of Irish employment law.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan, be well organise work well under pressure, take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative. 

  • Ability to manage changing priorities, multiple deadlines, and competing demands.

  • Strong analytical and project management skills, proven ability to design clear processes and a very detail-oriented yet flexible approach to problem-solving.

  • Experience implementing people programs including performance, employee relations, HR compliance, and employee development/growth.

Location: Mountmellick, Co Laois with the option of a hybrid working model.
