Job Description

Piquant is seeking a commercial Financial Manager to play a pivotal role in our organization. We are looking for a strategic financial leader who will help shape the future of our agency. This is a hands-on finance role, which will require end to end ownership of the finance function. This is an opportunity to drive financial excellence and be a key partner in our creative journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance Management:

  • Financial leadership fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Champion financial literacy throughout the organization to ensure informed decision-making at all levels.

  • End to End Finance Management: ensure the smooth running of the finance function, including book keeping.

  • Provide monthly financial reports to the directors

  • Manage payroll & VAT processing

  • Imbed good financial practices across the business

  • Coordinate and manage financial audits, including liaising with external auditors and addressing audit findings

  • Performance Management: Gathering and presentation of data, such as time tracking, invoice tracking, delivery timelines etc. to support the executive team in sound financial decision making.

  • Critical Financial Evaluation – assessing investment opportunities, identifying incremental cashflow and evaluating Return on capital employed.

Financial Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking financial strategy that aligns with our creative and business objectives. Provide guidance to the executive team on financial decisions that impact the company’s growth and profitability.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Drive the budgeting process and develop accurate financial forecasts. Monitor and analyze financial performance against plans, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Risk Management: Oversee financial risk assessment and management, identifying potential challenges and developing strategies to mitigate them.

  • Provide insights on potential opportunities and threats to the business.

  • Investor Relations: Manage relationships with stakeholders, investors, and financial institutions. Communicate financial performance and objectives effectively, building confidence and trust in our financial management.

  • Financial Innovation: Explore creative financial solutions and partnerships that align with our agency’s vision, while maintaining financial discipline.


  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.

  • A proven track record of financial leadership and strategic financial planning, ideally in a creative or innovative industry.

  • Experience working in a start-up or scaling environment is a plus

  • Strong IT skills including experience using accounting software (experience using Xero is a plus)

  • Experience using project management software and CRM (experience using Monday.com is a plus)

  • Exceptional financial acumen and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
